Mother Arrested in 3 Sons' Deaths

MOORPARK, Calif. (AP) — The mother of three boys found shot to death in their home last week was arrested Tuesday for investigation of first-degree murder.

Socorro ``Cora'' Caro, 42, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head on the night of the killings, remains hospitalized under guard and has not been given bail, said Ventura County Sheriff's spokesman Eric Nishimoto.

``Based on the current evidence we have in hand, there is enough probable cause pointing to her as the only shooter,'' Nishimoto said.

Mrs. Caro has requested a lawyer, but no arraignment date has been set because of her medical condition, Nishimoto said.

Detectives had been investigating the shootings as an act of domestic violence.

Dr. Xavier Caro, 52, reported the shootings Nov. 22 at 11:20 p.m. when he returned to his family's rural Ventura County mansion and found that his wife and three of his sons had been shot. A fourth son was found unharmed.
