The Globe and Mail
Tuesday, November 16, 1999TORONTO -- Ontario's teenagers are using alcohol and drugs at rates not seen since the 1970s, a new study suggests.
Almost two-thirds of Ontario high school students had drunk alcohol in the previous year, roughly a 16-per-cent increase since 1993, according to a survey released by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
The survey of more than 4,800 Ontario students from Grades 7 to 13 also found that 29.2 per cent of students had used marijuana in the previous year, more than double the 1993 rate. CP
