KELOWNA -- A woman who kidnapped her granddaughter from a foster home will not spend any time in jail for the crime.
Susan McLean, 53, was convicted of abducting her 18-month-old granddaughter. The child was taken from her 18-year-old mother, who was in a foster home outside Kelowna, in October of 1998.
Ms. McLean said she did it because the child's mother was a drug addict. Yesterday, she was given a nine-month conditional sentence.
The child's father, Ms. McLean's son Steven Richard Ens, pleaded guilty to abduction charges earlier and was sentenced to seven months time served. CP
