EDMONTON - Steve Ewanchuk, the Alberta man convicted in the "no-means-no" sexual assault case, lost a final bid yesterday to reopen his trial. John Moore, of the Queen's Bench Justice, ordered Ewanchuk's case to proceed to sentencing, and the Crown to move ahead with its application to have Ewanchuk declared a dangerous offender. The case caused national headlines in February when the Supreme Court of Canada, which said Ewanchuk's defence of implied consent had no standing in law.
