Thursday, March 02, 2000Newfoundland: Woman acquitted in 3rd trial
ST. JOHN'S - A woman accused of trying to hire a man to kill her former husband for $5,000 was acquitted after her third trial yesterday. Debra Perry, from nearby Mount Pearl, was involved in a custody dispute with Gerald Clarke when the charges were laid. The Crown argued that Ms. Perry asked a man to kill Mr. Clarke in 1991 after he won sole custody of their two children. "I just want to go home right now and be with my children," said Ms. Perry.
