Ontario's 900 Crown attorneys have won pay raises of 30 per cent over two years.

The Premier yesterday endorsed the salary increase for Crown attorneys if it is necessary "to ensure that we have top-notch lawyers on the Crown side."

An arbitration board awarded the increases to the Crown attorneys in a ruling released late last week.

The change means that the range of salary for the largest group of Crown attorneys now is from $91,000 to $136,000.
