Houston Chronicle

Services for the five Yates children whose mother has said she drowned them in a bathtub will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Clear Lake Church of Christ.

The funeral is open only to family and friends, but cards and letters may be sent in care of the church at 938 El Dorado, Houston, Texas, 77062.

Contributions also are being accepted for the Yates Memorial Fund to help pay funeral expenses.

Donations can be made in person at the JSC Federal Credit Union or checks and money orders made out to the fund can be mailed to JSC Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 58346, Houston, Texas, 77258-0346.

Information about the fund is available at the credit union, 281-488-7070.

The children -- Noah, 7; John, 5; Paul, 3; Luke, 2; and 6-month-old Mary -- will be buried in Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.

The children's mother, Andrea Pia Yates, 36, had suffered from postpartum depression, according to her husband. She called police to the family home in the 900 block of Beachcomber on Wednesday and told them she had killed her children.

The father, Russell Yates, also 36, was at work at the Johnson Space Center, where he is a computer engineer. He has remained supportive of his wife, who remains in Harris County Jail on charges of capital murder.
