Stalled reformLetter to the Editor by James Hodgins
It is now abundantly clear (Child Custody Reform on Back Burner, Sept. 7) that democratically elected federal MPs are not in control of the child custody policies of the country.
Despite an overwhelming call by an all-party Parliamentary committee for major improvements to the divorce act, it appears that government staff are advising Justice Minister Anne McLellan to ignore the Parliamentary recommendations. By deciding to delay the changes, it's clear the Justice Minister has decided to ignore our democratically elected officials too. The federal government's arrogance is out in the open.
James Hodgins, Toronto.
