Judge off the hook: CouncilBy IAN McDOUGALL -- Toronto Sun
A misconduct complaint against Justice Lesley Baldwin has been dismissed by the Ontario Judicial Council.
The news was welcomed by Baldwin and her lawyer yesterday after the judgment was released.
A complaint was filed by the Criminal Lawyers' Association after a July 7, 2000, letter that Baldwin wrote to then attorney general James Flaherty was made public. It asked about the progress of justice system reforms she had helped draft.
"Having reviewed the specific details of the complaint from the perspective of the ... fair-minded, informed member of the public," the council concludes there has been no misconduct," the judgment says.
