A woman has been arrested after her two-year-old daughter was found dead of dehydration.
Toronto Police found the body of Adrianna DaSilva in an apartment on Biggin Court in the Victoria Park Avenue and Eglinton Avenue area on Monday.
The child's mother discovered the body about 5 p.m. and called for help.
Police from 33 Division and detectives from the homicide squad investigated the circumstances surrounding the girl's death.
Clara DaSilva, 22, has been charged with criminal negligence causing death, an offence that relates to the failure to take action that could have prevented a death.
Upon conviction, the sentence can range from a discharge to life in prison.
Detective Paul Manning of the youth bureau said Adrianna had been left alone without fluids "for a period of time."
He would not say how long because the matter is before the courts.
