Toronto police are treating the death of a two-year-old girl who died of dehydration as a homicide and have charged her mother with manslaughter.
Police had originally charged 22-year-old Clara DaSilva with criminal negligence causing death after finding the lifeless body of her daughter Adrianna in a stifling apartment near Victoria Park Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East on Sept. 9. She had been left without fluids or food for a day, police said. After further investigation, police yesterday raised the charge to the more serious offence of manslaughter.
