Bail delayed in baby deathToronto Star
The bail hearing for the mother of a 2-year-old girl who died of dehydration in her hot apartment this week, has been put over until Monday.
Clara Dasilva is charged with criminal negligence causing death.
She appeared briefly in College Park court yesterday with her parents and sister in the front row, to ask for an adjournment.
The 22-year-old would have had to make an application at the West Detention Centre where she is being held, in order to be released today for her daughter's funeral.
Police allege that Dasilva left her daughter alone for at least 12 hours in her Biggin Court apartment, near Eglinton Ave. E. and Victoria Park Ave. An autopsy determined the cause of death was dehydration.
