ABINGDON, Md. -- A woman shot and wounded the father of her 2-year-old son before fatally shooting herself a few hours later, police said.
Robert Binkley, 53, of Springfield, Va., went to the home of Tonya Massey, 39, on Sunday to pick up their son, the Harford County Sheriff's Department said.
The two argued, and Massey shot Binkley first with a 500,000-volt stun gun then shot him three times with a firearm while he was inside his car, 11 News reporter Lisa Robinson said.
He was hit in the face, arm and chest.
Binkley managed to drive about a mile away from where he was shot, and a passing motorist called 911.
Ginger Rigney, a spokeswoman with the Harford County Sheriff's Department, said after the shooting, Massey took her 2-year-old son, Tyler, to her sister's house in Edgewood and left him there.
A Havre De Grace police officer spotted Massey at about 11 a.m. and was about to pull her over when she shot herself twice in the chest, Rigney said. Massey was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Binkley was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. The boy was staying with relatives.
