SEATTLE -- Prosecutors are accusing a Washington state woman of selling her fussy baby for $5,000 US and using the money to pay for a traffic ticket, buy groceries, clothing and a VCR.

Charges of child selling were filed Friday against Kent resident Virginia Ramsey, 28, and her former boyfriend, Kenneth S. Slape, 35.

Slape's former wife, Tina Anderson, was charged with child buying.

Slape said Friday he didn't know he'd been charged but said the allegations are "totally untrue."

The 4-month-old boy was handed over in the parking lot of a Fred Meyer store on June 7, 2001.
