Honeywood, Ont. -- Re Court Grants Blacks Special Sentencing (Feb. 13): It appears that the Ontario Court of Appeal neglected to give guidance on how its judgment should be applied to defendants of lesser degrees of blackness.

Should a half-black person receive half the sentencing consideration given a "full" black? What about a quadroon or an octoroon? One-quarter and one-eighth respectively?

Such absurdity only underlines the absolute indefensibility of any race-based public policy, most especially in the justice system.
